The AMS one supposedly is a different design than the OEM VR38, with tweaks to OEM design. The Willall supposedly is a verbatim copy of the OEM As the power increases so does the stress on the factory cast aluminum VR38 engine block. Introducing the Alpha Jan 29, 2019 The team is understandably tight-lipped about the details of the GT-R's engine setup, but we do know that it's a 4.3-liter billet block from AMS It has an aluminum block and the engine it's derived from, the VQ35DE, is only If you look at AMS's Alpha packages they recommend doing forged internals As part of the AMS Alpha 9 package, our billet upgrade produced 820hp and 710ft lbs safely and reliably on 93 oct pump gas at only 23psi! These are the same ENGINE BLOCK COMPONENTS.
